Japan Travel Guide

Japan is a beautiful island country on the east coast of Asia; it consists of an incredible string of islands in a northeast-southwest arc. Japan is called the Land of the Raising Sun, where ancient traditions and vibrant modern culture exist. Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu are the country's main islands covering the entire land area. Honshu is the largest island, followed by Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku. There are also a few small islands, the Ryukyu Islands, the Izu, Bonin and Volcano (Kazan) islands. Three-fourths of the country's landscape is mountainous and has many active volcanoes, including Mount Fuji (Fuji-san) on the island of Honshu, which is Japan's highest mountain.

Japan is a high-tech country mixed with respect and politeness among the people. The friendly country has majestic temples, shrines, amazing food, beautiful gardens, and historical culture. With the serene beauty of cherry blossoms painting the countryside in delicate shades of pink, Japan offers a feast for the senses.

The capital of Japan is Tokyo, located on the Pacific coast of central Honshu and is known as the city of Samurai. It's a vibrant city that offers unlimited shopping, entertainment, culture and dining options. Many attractions of Tokyo include Imperial Palace, the Sensoji Temple, the Tokyo Skytree and Odaiba Island. Tokyo is the economic centre of Japan and the location of both the Japanese government and the Emperor. The Tsukiji Fish Market is the largest market in Tokyo.

Osaka is a designated city in the region of Honshu in Japan, the second-largest metropolitan area in Japan.
